I’m changing my skin but you can’t see it yet

Written on August 30, 2012

Sometimes when I take a moment, I realize that I don’t post nearly half of what I’m doing. I guess this is especially true when it comes to random side projects (of which there are many). Projects with no particular destiny… those are often the most fun.

We Could Be Friends gouache

I found myself desiring to paint fur textures, a sweet face & little foods.

A print exists and is currently available in my shop.

I’ve been trying to utilize my sketchbook sketches more than ever (which is why I’ve posted less of them online this year). If I like even the smallest shape in the sketch, I’ve been trying to turn it into a finished painting or drawing. Like this one (which started out as the tiniest corner scribble):

Shy Party gouache (coming soon as a print in two forms)

Haven’t you ever had a surprise birthday party thrown by your shy bear friends? No?

I think it is safe to say that I went through a kind of cute phase this summer which is a bit at odds with most of my current projects and the darkness of my heart (only kidding).
